Welcome
Welcome to Positive Psychology at Work!
The field of Positive Psychology is in its infancy and this site is designed to be a “living-breathing place” to share ideas and hold community discussions” as we discover what “works.”
Who are We?
Positive Psychology at Work was created by a group of psychologists, therapists, coaches, teachers and writers who ‘met’ virtually in Marty Seligman’s first positive psychology coaching class in May 2003. Over the last five years, we have continued dialoging about positive psychology in conference calls, on our own, semi-weekly and then monthly to continue learning, assimilating, and practicing positive psychology in our personal and professional lives. We feel fortunate that our “pod” group community is enriched by different cultural perspectives. Several of us have met one another and we hope to eventually all meet each other in person.
Out Intention
Our primary intention for this blog is to record kernels of understanding and experiences that relate to positive psychology. A secondary goal is to make this information available to others who are interested in the field of positive psychology and what it can do to improve the quality of their life. We share a commitment to keep current with the new research emerging in this rapidly developing field and as practioners, continuously look for ways to apply our developing knowledge into our practices and various disciplines.
Our ongoing classes and groups are both didactic and experiential. What we have discovered is as we learn, apply, and talk to each other about our experiences applying the Positive Psychology knowledge in our personal and work lives, our understanding deepens.
As ethical professionals we all agree that we must “walk our talk,” to understand and support our clients and students. We FIND that our weekly or even monthly VIRTUAL meetings create a foundation for OUR commitment to daily practice.
Please join us on our very interesting journey toward, and into happiness.
Warmly
